Reformer Pilates

Genesis Fitness has teamed up with STOTT PILATES to offer you the Rolls Royce in reformer training. Reformer Pilates is contemporary approach to focusing on correct posture while integrating a strength training workout.

These major factors optimize your physical health. The brainchild of Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s, Joseph wanted to look outside the square to rehab war veterans, as well as early sports conditioning theories for athletes, that we still follow today.

The 5 basic principles Joseph Pilates pioneered, are the cornerstone of effective Reformer Pilates exercise.
  1. Breathing
  2. Pelvic Placement
  3. Rib Cage Placement
  4. Scapular Stabilsation
  5. Head and Neck Placement

Genesis Pilates | Rebecca Templeton - Instructor

Rebecca Templeton

Auckland born, I spent my childhood growing up in East Auckland. I went to AUT, North Shore and did a Bachelor of Sport Science.

After graduating I moved to London to gain some worldly experience on my big OE. I trained the odd client but focused my time on travelling through Europe, meeting amazing people and experiencing different cultures.

It wasn’t all play overseas, I completed a course in pregnancy and postnatal training with the goal of coming back to NZ and starting up a business based around this population group.

I then discovered Pilates and decided it would compliment my knowledge in pre and postnatal training. I hadn’t done a lot of Pilates prior, other than the home DVD’s, so when I completed my three week intensive matwork course with the International brand Stott Pilates, I was definitely sold.

My running was stronger, I felt I was walking taller and just felt more control in general. I couldn’t wait to get back to NZ and bring my knowledge with me. The success I have had with clients through Personal Training combined with Pilates has been incredible. I have continued my study over here with workshops on Back Care, Weight loss and Prenatal Pilates, as well as a very motivating course on Injuries and Special Populations which has changed my approach to training completely.

I am currently studying the reformer which takes Pilates to a whole new level and am really looking forward to starting up the reformer studio here at Genesis. My goal is to increase the awareness of Pilates within Genesis and educate our members on the importance of Pilates for everyone’s training and health.

Pilates teaches you to move your body in the correct way, mobilise and stabilise your joints, tone and firm while giving you a longer leaner look to your muscles, it make you stand taller, feel stronger and overall have a better mind-body awareness.

Health and Fitness has always been a passion of mine, I feel very lucky to be able to work in an industry where I can work with people to help them achieve results that they thought they never could achieve. There is nothing more satisfying than the look on my clients face when they have reached their goals!
