Hi everyone,

I’m Johnny and probably one of the nicest ‘Islanders’ you’ll ever come across....and if you start laughing now, then don’t because I’m telling the truth....haha yeh right!

I was born and bred in Samoa until 1990 when I moved to NZ to play rugby. While I was living here I first discovered ‘jumpers’ and started wearing them to keep me warm. That was something new for me as I didn’t need them back in Samoa. I moved back to Samoa briefly but I must have done something right while I was playing here cause they asked me to come back again in 1995 and ended up staying for good.

My family are quite well-known back in Samoa with three of my uncles representing Samoa in the Commonwealth games. I started off as a boxer although that ended when my principal sent a letter to my mother and put that to a stop! If I had of known that my boxing was going to end with that letter...... I would have made sure it never got to my mother haha!

I’ve previously worked at Les Mills for 7 years as a person trainer before I made the move to Genesis Fitness (way better than Les Mills!!!) and this is now my third year personal training here. I enjoy working here because there’s a great atmosphere and the members are very friendly.

I believe that you need to train your mind and change your attitude first before you can make any real changes to your body. The body will always follow when you have a healthy mind and the right attitude towards your fitness goals. We’re all from different walks of life, but there is one thing I believe makes us all the same – hard work. Hard work will always lead to success, whether it’s your fitness goals or goals that you have in other aspect of your life. We must work hard and push the limits of our abilities to achieve what we want.

I always enjoy meeting new people and chatting to members so don’t be afraid to come and chat to me....even if it’s not about training.
